A few years ago, when I was preparing to teach a Philosophy class, I became interested in the idea of hope.

It seemed to me that some philosophers had quite a negative interpretation of hope, likening it to something that can make us miserable.

Some philosophers however were more optimistic.

Kierkegaard wrote in The Works of Love that

“To hope, is to act as if you await the possibility of good”.
